Kitchen Update in Medlock Park Before Listing for Sale

We worked with this Decatur family to update their kitchen in Medlock Park. The design strategy was to address the functional and storage concerns with budget friendly solutions. 

“We want to renovate our kitchen just enough so that it will be appealing to a buyer in a few years when we are ready to sell. In the  meantime, we need it to be functional for two cooks in the kitchen and our growing family.”

Knowing the owners planned on selling their home in a few years, we kept the range and sink in the same place and simply adjusted the refrigerator location. This saved money by not changing the existing electrical, gas, and plumbing. We also preserved the slate floors since they were in good condition and have a timeless appeal.

For durability and function, we used quartz countertops with undermounted sink with pulldown sprayer faucet. Cabinets feature pull out drawers for maximum storage. For the pantry, we placed it next to the refrigerator and behind the stove to create a built-in refrigerator look. 

To create a functional laundry area, we made a laundry nook tucked behind a pair of doors and added a folding area and shelving.
